Ayodhya Kanda details Rama’s exile from Ayodhya. Queen Kaikeyi, influenced by her maid Manthara, demands her boons: Bharata's coronation and Rama’s exile. Bharata, upon learning this, refuses the throne and rules as Rama’s proxy, placing Rama’s sandals on the throne.

Sita is abducted by Ravana, the demon king of Lanka, leading to Rama and Lakshmana's quest to rescue her. Jatayu, the vulture king, valiantly tries to save Sita but is mortally wounded.
